Camana Bay is the newest in a string of major developments along Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman that was expected to open in 2007. Dubbed a "new town," Camana Bay stretches from Seven Mile Beach to the shores of the North Sound and will have a walkable town center, unlike much of the rest of the island. The colorful architecture is a fresh take on traditional Caribbean styles, with extraordinary attention paid to providing plenty of shade and capturing the sea breezes. Lush tropical landscaping will add to the appeal.
The Town Center has an appealing mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment. A range of local retailers and international brands will provide plenty of stores to browse in, including a bookstore and adjoining coffee bar. A new six-screen cinema will offer an entertainment option for rainy days. Only one restaurant, Abacus, was open at this writing.
An Observation Tower is promised for 2008, and it should offer some of the best views of the island. Six new waterfront restaurants are expected along the Crescent, a large open plaza by the harbor.
