At Caleta Buena, 9 km (6 mi) east of Playa Girón, the sea has formed a series of natural pools by entering through underwater caves. The bottom of sponge and coral is a polychromatic marvel, as are the many tropical fish. A 25-meter (83-foot) tunnel through the limestone leads out to the sea, for well-prepared and -equipped divers. The on-site restaurant is open until 5 and specializes in shrimp and lobster. If you're having lunch here (the buffet is 10 cuc), the $12 admission is waived. If you are coming after lunch, a two-hour visit from 3 to 5 costs $6. In spring, be prepared for the dead land crabs that cover the roads, and the accompanying vultures.
