Gran Ventana Beach Resort

Fodor's Review:
This resort is characterized by a sophisticated style that sets it apart from the nearby competition. The lobby, with pottery and local drums suspended from the walls, is a contemporary study in Caribbean colors with a fountain. The beach is on a point with unobstructed views to the left. Families are a good share of the market, and this resort is solid as far as the tour operators are concerned, with service and food improving each season. Many couples prefer the larger rooms (sans good ocean views, unfortunately) that surround the quiet pool. A Victorian-style wedding gazebo is popular for nuptials.

Fantastic hotel! Returning next year, meeting up with some of the other holiday makers we met out there last year to see a couple reniew their wedding vows (did not know anyone 'til holiday) can't wait!Quiet Escape

This is a nice, clean resort with friendly service. We found ourselves the outsiders as Americans- It seemed like 90% of the guests are European and the remaining 10% are mostly Canadian. Nightlife was typical family-friendly stuff but there's a casino and "disco" (a restaurant that converts to such in the evening) within walking distance. The food is good by all-inclusive standards but don't expect anything on par with a good New York restaurant. We thought the rooms were nice and clean and we weren't too disappointed over the lack of ocean view because all rooms are very convenient to each area of the resort. A good value for the money. I would recommend it.
