Money Matters
The most common foreign bank in the Dominican Republic is Scotiabank, with 54 branches throughout the country, including two on the Samaná peninsula. This is the most reliable place to change money or use an ATM. The branches are open weekdays 8:30-4:30 and Saturday 9-1. You won't find any ATMs at all anywhere east of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, including at Las Galeras, so if you're heading there, money up in Samaná first. Western Union has two offices here: one in Samaná town and one in Las Terrenas.
