Playa Grande

Playa Grande Review

This dramatic, natural mile-long stretch is widely considered to be one of the top beaches in the world. Many a photo shoot and postcard image were made at this picture-perfect beach of off-white sands and turquoise water. Just east of the famous golf course of the same name, Playa Grande's drama comes from craggy cliffs dropping into the crystalline blue sea. It's a simply gorgeous stretch of sand, despite the food stands and souvenir shops that slightly mar its beauty. That said, there's plenty of space to find your own piece of beach paradise here. A rocky cliff juts into the Caribbean at the east end of the beach, forming more intimate Playa Preciosa on the other side. Shade can be found in the palm trees that thicken into a jungle preserve south of the beach, Parque Nacional Cabo Frances Viejo. Amenitites: food and drink. Best for: surfing; walking.
