Fodor's Review:
The century-old tamarind tree rising through the center of the main building gives this place its name. The plantation-style house, with its barrel-tile roof and wood-shuttered windows, is one of the most beautiful on the island. It's easy to find a spot all to yourself, whether it's on a shady terrace or beside the spectacular pool. The guest rooms were individually decorated by Linda Vail, who runs the place along with her husband Burr. "Caribbean chic" might be the best way to describe her effortless way of combining well-chosen antiques, elegant wicker furniture, and vintage travel posters. The nicest room might be Number One, which is in a separate building and has a private terrace overlooking the ocean. The beach is nearby, but you'll need a car to get there.
