Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra)

Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra) Review

Under the direction of conductor Maximiano Valdés, the 80 members of this prominent orchestra perform a full 52-week season that includes classical-music concerts, operas, ballets, and popular-music performances. The orchestra plays most shows at Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré, but it also gives outdoor concerts at museums and university campuses around the island, and it has an educational outreach program in island schools. Pablo Casals, the impetus for this group, helped create it in 1956.
