Reached by a steep and denuded dirt road, this tiny property perches on a bluff overlooking a lovely beach. Its three studio-style casitas are spread across a breeze-swept lawn and cater to vacationers who favor extreme privacy and shun frills in favor of clean and simple digs. The sparsely furnished rooms with kitchens are cross-ventilated with screened unglazed windows and feature lofty beamed ceilings and glass-brick bathrooms. Guests who care not to cater for themselves are a 20-minute walk from Esperanza and its many restaurants. Amiable owners Hector and Mary Matos, from New York, live on-site, as do their horses, which munch on fruit from the mango trees.
