When to Go

Roughly speaking, high season runs from December 15 through April 15. Puerto Ricans flock at Christmas and Easter, when Vieques and Culebra are packed with families enjoying the sun and sand. Be sure to make reservations well in advance if you're visiting during the holidays. The shoulder season, when prices are a bit lower, is a good option. Remember, however, that some restaurants and hotels are only open during the high season. The only time you might want to avoid is late August through late October, when hurricanes can strike the area.
