Do Brazil

$$$-$$$$, Eclectic, Gustavia

User Rating: **** 3.5

Fodor's Review:

At this cozy restaurant nestled at the cliff side of Gustavia's Shell Beach, you'll be able to sample more of restaurateur Boubou's fusion creations. The menu is more French-Thai than Brazilian, although at dinner there are usually a couple of Brazilian specialties. The decor is vaguely jungle-chic -- romantic at night, lively at lunch. Grilled sandwiches at the snack bar on the beachfront level are the perfect lunch. For dinner, choose between varied salads, raw fish, hand-chopped steak tartares, and a variety of fresh-caught grilled fish. The service has been known to be a little relaxed.

Spend the day here...

Posted by jrpinto from New Jersey on 3/19/07

Do Brazil was recently featured in a Conde Nast Traveler article as one of the best beach-front restaurants in the Caribbean. While the food isnt spectacular, it is a great place to spend the day. It is on Shell Beach, which is right in Gustavia and is fast becoming a great swimming beach. The only thing on Shell Beach is Do Brazil, which is a completely open building. Have lunch upstairs, then go down to lie on the bed on the beach and order drinks from the adjacent bar. Watch the locals cliff-dive and the luxury yachts anchor for lunch.

Lunch with a view

Posted by Sue from United Kingdom on 12/31/05

The Restaurant upstairs is a great place for lunch. Expensive, yes, but you are on St Barths and located on a very pretty beach close to town. Good food, wine and atmosphere. Best to book if you want a table next to the open air windows with a view of the beach.
