Carnival on St. Kitts is celebrated during the 10 days right after Christmas.
The St. Kitts Music Festival in late June or early July is the biggest event on the island and draws international singing stars from Michael Bolton to Boyz II Men.
September on St. Kitts is devoted to independence festivals.
Nevis calls its summer carnival Culturama, and it's celebrated in late July and early August.
In mid-September, Heritage Week celebrates Nevis's history with several celebrations.
The Nevis International Culinary Heritage Exposition brings in guest chefs for cooking demonstrations and wine tastings the third week of October.
Taking a page from the Cayman Islands book, Nevis introduced the weeklong Peppered Pickled Pirate Party, held twice during the last week of both October and November, celebrating the likes of William Kidd and Black Bart with an "invasion," regattas, cooking and cocktail competitions, treasure hunts, and more.
