Bus Travel
Privately owned and operated minivans constitute St. Lucia's bus system, an inexpensive and efficient means of transportation used primarily by local people. Buses are a good way to travel between Castries and the Rodney Bay area. Fares in the north range from EC$1.50 to EC$2.50 (ideally payable in local currency), but you can also travel to Vieux Fort or Soufrière (two-plus hours, EC$8). Wait at a marked stop and hail the passing minivan. Let the conductor or driver know where you need to go, and he'll stop at the appropriate place.
