The Carlton Savannah Review

Those looking for a boutique hotel without compromising service and quality come to the Carlton, a chic and sleek hotel in the quiet Cascade area that has already attracted visiting dignitaries and discerning businessmen. The simple and functional exterior gives little hint of the stylish decor and clever use of space inside. Rooms are not the largest in town but are well appointed and in no way claustrophobic. The bars and restaurants (especially the expansive open-air rooftop lounge) are a popular hangout for Port of Spain's glitterati. The hotel's reputation was cemented when Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and their entourage chose it as their base during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference in 2009. An advantage here is that the staff is able to provide a level of personal service that would be impossible at a larger hotel. The hotel is a short walk from the northern side of the Queen's Park Savannah, President's House, the botanical gardens, and the zoo.
