  West Bay Club Review

  I have used Fodor's in the past to research destinations and hotels with great success. We have stayed at the Grace Bay Club the previous six times vacationing in Turks & Caicos and we wanted to experience a new hotel this trip. Based on the recommendation of Fodor's and various comments from hotel guests, we decided to go to the West Bay Club. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. First the PROS: Rooms are fairly large and well appointed with nice views of the ocean. Price point is competitive with other hotels of its size.
  Beach is expansive and uncrowded.
  Food in small restaurant is ok for lunch.
  Cons:
  We had a two bedroom suite. Second bedroom was very musty smelling.
  Beach attendants had a difficult time understanding English.
  While they advertise Beach attendants are available to bring drinks/lunch - only twice were we approached to ask if we wanted anything. Water was not available at the beach most days until 11 am.
  The breakfast included in the room charge is horrible and you would not want to eat at the restaurant for dinner.
  The Gansevoort hotel is right next door and on the weekends the music is played loudly. The public beach is to the right of the West Bay Club and music is also played loudly at any time during the week.
  We understand each hotel has go to vendors for outside excursions. We arranged with the concierge to go jet skiing. We had three jet skis, the first barely made it out of the harbor before malfunctioning; the second made it out to a deserted island with an abandoned hotel in mid construction (this was the cave exploration we were promised)the second jet ski died and the third started to malfunction on the trip back. The cost was $285 per jet ski... The concierge also arranged for catamaran sailing and despite the number of times we referenced a "sailboat" a motorized boat picked us up for the excursion. While everyone is friendly, their service standards are less than expected. Our last night we had dinner at the Grace Bay Club and we all agreed that next time we are coming back to this hotel.

  West Bay Club Review

  My husband and I have stayed there 3 times already - and each time we leave we can't wait to go back again! The accomodations are gorgeous and huge with outstanding oceanfront views, the water is so blue and clear, and the sand so soft and white that it makes all other beaches pale in comparison (and they are on the widest stretch of beach on Grace Bay - so it feels more private and less crowded because there is more space), and the people who work at this resort in particular are sweethearts who are always smiling and treat you like family. We highly recommend it for r&r and romance. The specials that they have been running recently make it a bargain! We have stayed at 4 other properties on Grace Bay and West Bay Club is definitely our favorite.
