Velden

Velden, the largest resort on the lake, is at the western end of the Wörther See. The atmosphere here strives to retain its international chic. The fact that a casino has settled here says a lot about Velden, which otherwise has very little in the way of sights. The town's most famous beauty spot is the lakeside promenade, accented by turn-of-the-century lamps and mansions. However, if you're looking for a tranquil holiday, Velden may be too exuberant. The town gets pricey in the July and August main season.
