Innsbruck and Tirol: Places to Explore

Ischgl and Galtür

Ischgl, the largest town in the Paznaun Valley, has become as renowned for its party scene as for its excellent skiing, particularly in the small Fimber Valley to the south, and in summer it's a popular high-altitude health resort. You can get to the 7,500-foot Idalpe via the 4-km-long (2½-mi-long) Silvretta cable-car run. The enchanting Paznaun Valley follows the course of the Trisanna River for more than 40 km (25 mi). The valley runs into the heart of the Blue Silvretta mountains, named for the shimmering ice-blue effect created by the great peaks and glaciers. They are dominated by the Fluchthorn (10,462 feet), at the head of the valley.
