Beyond Gerlos the highway climbs the 5,300-foot Gerlos Pass and plunges into the province of Salzburg in a series of double-back hairpins close to the dramatic 1,300-foot Krimmler Wasserfälle. You can complete the circuit back into Tirol by continuing east to Mittersill and cutting north to Kitzbühel via the Thurn Pass.
