Schloss Freisitz Hotel Roith Review

Crowning the eastern shores of the Traunsee, this landmark draws all eyes, thanks to the flapping flag atop its white turret, its Mitteleuropisch Baroque pediments, and expansive "hunting lodge" facade. Gracing a castle site from 1550, it was renovated in 1887 by Gustav Faber. In 1964 the mansion became a hotel, and now anyone can experience the 19th-century luxe that Faber, the famous German pencil maker, once enjoyed—Oriental carpets and Art Nouveau furniture. The breakfast buffet is almost as beautiful.
