A 10-minute walk west from the center of Mondsee village, this flower-bedecked modern inn glows in ochre-hue stone, putting you in mind of a Tuscan villa. Inside, faux-Romanesque columns, terra-cotta walls, and enchanting lake views also allure. The range of rooms is wide here, but whether you go for simple and standard or a larger suite, always opt for a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. After enjoying the natural beach, head back to enjoy the critically praised cuisine cooked up by owner, Martin Lackner. His signature tomato soup, spaghetti with rabbit ragout, or dessert of cheese dumplings with plums can all be enjoyed with a noted selection of Austrian wines.
