Am Förthof Review

Set back from the busy main road, with a large garden shaded by 200-year-old chestnut trees, this charming, romantic hotel has rooms done in tranquil, pale pastels with antique pieces. Those in front have views of the river and abbeys, whereas the back rooms overlook a swimming pool. Breakfast is a feast with fresh-baked Wachauer Semmeln, sweet strawberries, red currants, and apricots picked from the Marillen trees of the neighboring village of Stein. Dinner menu items include Danube fish, roast duck with truffles, and Donauland pork medallions with wild mushrooms.
