Built for the 1958 World's Fair, the model of an iron molecule enlarged 165 billion times is one of Brussels' landmarks. It reopened in 2006 after a massive renovation that replaced its metal skin with sparkling stainless steel, spruced up its exhibition spaces, and put in a new café. Take an express elevator to the top, 400 feet up, for panoramic views of Brussels. To get here, pick up the 1A subway near the place Ste-Catherine and take it to the Heysel stop. The trip takes under an hour; you'll see the Atomium to your right as you get off the train.
