Trsteno Arboretum
Trsteno Arboretum Review
Within the grounds of a small Renaissance villa, the arboretum was set up during the 16th century by the Gucetic family. Laid out on a geometric plan, it is filled with exotic trees and shrubs grown from seeds and saplings collected by local sailors on distant voyages. The site itself is breathtaking, the grounds running down toward a cliff overlooking the sea. The baroque fountain of Neptune and two nymphs dates from 1736. The best time to visit is spring or fall, when the leaves are changing color.
