Villa Rentals
Villa rentals are popular in Istria, where many properties—from one-bedroom apartments to houses for 16—have been brought up to a high standard in recent years. The medieval villages of the hilly interior are scenic, and offer sweeping (and almost uninterrupted) views of vineyards and olive groves. Hunkering down in a stone farmhouse and exploring the rest of the peninsula from there is certainly a leisurely way to appreciate Istria. Sadly, the region's been a bit oversold as "the new Tuscany" by tourism specialists, and while comfortable villas with pools are available, often they're as expensive as their equivalent in France or Italy but not quite as well-appointed or charming. On the upside though, Istria is still not nearly as crowded as other parts of Europe, so you won't have to share your view with the hordes. The following companies specialize in villa rentals in Istria.
