Kvarner Sights

Vrbnik

Vrbnik Review

Lovers of majestic views or high-diving should head to the cliff-top town on the northeast coast. Clustered on a hilltop 48 meters above a small harbor, it's a mass of confusing, winding streets. Happily, as in Krk Town, you can simply follow the lines set in the streets. The bumpy terrain means that staircases crop up around most corners. One of the oldest settlements on Krk, Vrbnik may be a little ramshackle, but it's utterly charming, That's certainly what the busloads of tourists seem to think anyway. Vrbnik's fragrance is of the vine; you'll see old barrels lying around everywhere. These might once have been filled with Zlahtina, a great white wine that some claim is the best to come from the Kvarner region. The vineyards are but a short hop from town, near the picturesque village of Dobrinj.
