Ceské Muzeum Stríbra (Czech Museum of Silver)

Ceské Muzeum Stríbra (Czech Museum of Silver) Review

All manner of medieval mining and minting equipment can be discovered at this museum housed in the Hrádek (Little Castle), once a part of the town's fortification. Information on the town's history, geology, and archaeology are on display. The real reason for a visit, though, is the chance to tour a medieval mine. Something to note if you're claustrophobic: the tunnel is a bit tight, and the tour lasts for about 30 minutes. You'll follow the process of silver mining from how to find it all the way to the minting. The city boasted some of the deepest mines in the world back in the 16th century, and the trek nowadays will probably make you glad you weren't a miner.
