Fodor's Review:

The grande dame of Copenhagen welcomes royalty, politicians, and rock stars -- from Margaret Thatcher to Madonna -- in palatial surroundings: an imposing New Georgian facade leads into an English-style sitting room. Standard guest rooms are furnished in pastels, with overstuffed chairs and a mix of modern and antique furniture. The spit-and-polish staff accommodates every wish. The elegant Restaurant D'Angleterre serves excellent French cuisine. In winter the square in front of the hotel is converted into a skating rink.

Leading Hotel of the World needs leading staff

Posted by Sandra from Chicago on 8/28/06

D'Angleterre is resting on its past reputation. My room was directly across from a private club which opened its doors every night so we could hear its louds music and noise until the wee hours. Hotel staff said they were aware of the situation but nothing could be done and we could not be moved because they hotel was full. For $600+ a night, guests should not have to put up with this. The hotel was well aware of this situation and obviously refuses to correct it. This is not what I expect from a Leading Hotel of the World member. The only good thing about the D'Angleterre is its location. Its management and staff need several courses in hotel management and service. On my next trip, I will definitely staff elsewhere.
