Trinity College Review

Founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, Trinity replaced a 14th-century educational foundation and is the largest college in either Cambridge or Oxford, with nearly 700 undergraduates. In the 17th-century great court, with its massive gatehouse, is Great Tom, a giant clock that strikes each hour with high and low notes. The college's greatest masterpiece is Christopher Wren's library, colonnaded and seemingly constructed with as much light as stone. Among the things you can see here is A. A. Milne's handwritten manuscript of The House at Pooh Corner. Trinity alumni include Isaac Newton, William Thackeray, Lord Byron, Alfred Tennyson, and 31 Nobel Prize winners.

    Well worth seeking out

Another Cambridge University college well worth a visit -- has a nice central fountain and central quad, pleasant chapel. C. Wren's Library is a highlight, with several rare books on display. Only drawback -- the dining hall and chapel are not open at the same time, so you have to forgo one or (when the chapel is open) sneak a fast peek at the dining hall during its lunch hour before being tossed out.
