Manchester has a reputation as one of the wettest cities in Britain, and visiting in summer won't guarantee fine weather. Summer is the optimum time to see the Peak District, especially because traditional festivities take place in many villages at its start. The only time to see the great houses of Derbyshire's Wye Valley is from spring through fall.
