The Wolseley

The Wolseley Review

The whole of beau London comes for the always-on-show spectacle and soaring elegance at this Viennese-style Mitteleuropa grand café on Piccadilly. Framed with black laquerware, silver service, and a few doors down from the Ritz, this all-day brasserie begins its long decadent days with breakfast at 7am and serves until midnight. Don't be shy to pop in on spec (they hold seats back for walk-ins) to enjoy such highlights as Hungarian goulash, Austrian pork belly, chicken soup with salt beef sandwich, eggs Benedict, kedgeree, or the breaded Wiener Schnitzel. For dessert, plump for the luscious Kaiserschmarren—caramalized pancake with stewed fruit and raisins—and don't forget to book a return table to savor the Viennoiserie pastries at one of their classy £9.75 to £32.50 afternoon teas.
