Yauatcha Review

Four cheers for the all-day dim sum at this Cantonese Soho classic. Slinkily designed by the chic Christian Liaigre—with black granite floors, purple-lit aquarium, candles, exposed brick light wall, and a starry ceiling—the James Bond setting is the perfect stage for the exquisite dim sum. Try king crab, cuttlefish and zuccini, or prawn and Chinese chives, or the other lively dishes like crispy duck rolls, hot and sour soup, congee rice porridge, venison puffs, and seabass with lotus root. Look out for the fancy cocktails, plus aromatic Oriental loose-leaf teas and the dainty Chinese cakes and fancies in the first floor tearoom. Note the two-hour table turnover, and be sure to dine in the more happening and romantic basement at night.
