London Restaurants

Chez Bruce Review

Deeply flavorsome French and Mediterrean cuisine, faultless service, a winning wine list, and a glossy neighborhood vibe make for one of London's all-time favorite destination restaurants. Take a train or cab south of the Thames to lauded chef Bruce Poole's cozy, gimmick-free haunt overlooking Wandsworth Common and then get ready for an endless procession of wonders, ranging from delicious home-made charcuterie or offal to lighter, simply grilled fish dishes. Pot roast pig's cheek with polenta, pollack with wild mushrooms, and roast monkfish with scallops, ham hock, and Jerusalem artichokes are all immaculately conceived. The wine and desserts are stunning, the sommelier's superb and, pound-for-pound, Chez Bruce is nigh impossible to beat. Weekday lunches are £27.50; 3-course dinners are £45.
