J Sheekey

J Sheekey Review

West End and Hollywood superdooper stars slide into this classy 1896 alley-walk seafood haven, a top alternative to Scott's, Nobu, or 34. Umbilically linked with the surrounding Theaterland district, J Sheekey is one of Londoners' all-time favorite West End haunts. Magnificently orchestrated by incorrigibly amusing maître'd John Andrews, the place charms with warm wood paneling, vintage showbiz black-and-white portraits, a warren of alcove tables, and lava-rock bar tops. Opt for snappingly fresh Atlantic prawns, pickled Arctic herrings, crab bisque, slip soles, scallop, shrimp and salmon burgers, or famous Sheekey fish pie. Better still, sip Gaston Chiquet Champagne and polish off half a dozen Lindisfarne rock oysters at the old mirrored raised-counter oyster bar for the ultimate in true romance, or alternatively take advantage of the £26.50 weekend 3-course set lunch deals.
