Boundary

Boundary Review

Restaurateur and design-guru Sir Terence Conran scores a bull's-eye at Boundary at this eponymous boutique hotel and foodie complex in über-trendy Hoxton/Shoreditch. A theatrically glass-fronted open kitchen, sparkly lighting, smart acoustics, and plush red-and-blue upholstered throne-like seats, make this swanky, chic, and gayly carpeted modern French basement brasserie the glamorati's East End dining destination of choice. The menu's a wish list of crowd-pleasers designed to impress: classics like twice-baked soufflé Suisse, lobster Thermidor, cod cassoulet, pigeon pot-au-feu, and red wine-heavy bœuf Bordelaise are all big and brassy, and are well served by timeless sides like Dauphinois potatoes or cauliflower gratin. Desserts like lemon tarte au citron or cherry clafoutis bake are impossiby tasty and fairly priced, and look out, too, for the £19.50 or £24.50 prix fixe deals.
