Bocca di Lupo

Bocca di Lupo Review

The place's always packed, the tables are too close together, and the acoustics suck, but everyone tips up for the buzz and chef Jacob Kenedy's punchy and unusual regional Italian rustic fare. Red-brick fronted and set in an unlikely street off Soho's red-light district, this popular family-run place offers a procession of small plates and peasant-based dishes from Piedmont to Emilia, Lombardy to Campania. Try drop-dead offerings like buffalo mozzarella, suckling pig, teal, polenta with anchovies, Sicilian lobster spaghetti, or baccala home-salted pollack. Limber up with a colorful Aperol spritz before plunging into the regional Italian-focused wine list, which weaves from Gavi di Gavi to rare Barolo's. There's intriguing Marsala and aged Grappa digestifs, plus cute desserts like chocolate semifreddo or milk-free espresso ice-cream.
