There's a thriving social scene of clubs and cafés, and the best notice board for gay life and services is Gay's the Word bookstore. The Pink Paper and Gay Times (both available at libraries, large bookstores, and gay cafés), and Time Out (available at newsagents) have comprehensive listings. Hotel front desks should serve any couple with courtesy, but using the travel agents listed below should send you in the right direction.
