By Train in Shakespeare Country

By Train

First Great Western Link and Virgin Trains serve the area. Four direct trains (two in the morning and two in the afternoon) from London's Paddington Station take two hours to reach Stratford; these avoid a change at Leamington Spa. Two direct trains return from Stratford each evening. On Sunday in winter there are no direct trains. You can travel by train and bus using the Shakespeare Connection Road & Rail Link from Euston Station to Coventry, then a City Sightseeing bus.

The Shakespeare Connection trip takes two hours, and there are four departures on weekdays -- the three that would allow you to catch an evening performance in Stratford are at 9:15 AM, 10:45 AM, and 4:55 PM; Saturday departures are at 9:05 AM, 10:35 AM, and 5:05 PM; the Sunday departure is at 9:45 AM. There's a train to London after performances, usually at 11:15 PM. Schedules can change, so call to confirm times. National Rail Enquiries has further information.
