Decorated in soothing tones, this Victorian terraced house is one of a cluster of B&Bs on Portland Place, a short walk north of Penrith's center. The welcome is friendly, the breakfast is hearty (salmon cakes and omelets are among the options), and rooms are bright and simple, with some patterned wallpaper and heavy, luxurious fabrics. Purples and browns predominate, and one room has a four-poster.
