Northeast Restaurants

Café 21 Review

A Newcastle classic, this sleek brasserie has been a favorite for romantic dinners for years. Warm wood, leather banquettes, and crisp white table linens lend a polished look. The menu focuses on modern versions of classic British cuisine, peppered with European and Asian influences; try the confit of duck with Lyonnaise potatoes, or the monkfish and tiger prawn and coconut curry. Desserts such as custard tart with nutmeg ice cream are excellent. The three-course early-bird menu, a steal at £20, is a good way to try it all.
