Durham University Oriental Museum

Durham University Oriental Museum Review

A 15-minute walk from the cathedral, this museum displays fine art- and craftwork from all parts of Asia and the Middle East. Galleries are ordered by culture, including Ancient Egypt, China, and Korea. Among the highlights are beautiful Qing dynasty jade and laquer ornaments, and a collection of Japanese woodblock prints from the Edo period. At this writing, the museum had just started a multi-year renovation project that will involve temporary closures of some galleries, so call ahead.
