You can't stay at Stourhead, but you can stay at this popular inn built at the beginning of the 19th century just inside the main entrance. Guests are admitted free to the gardens at any time. Bedrooms are elegant and understated, with some period features like uneven wood floors and Georgian sash windows. The restaurant specializes in simple, traditional British dishes with an emphasis on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, such as a slow-cooked casserole using game from the estate.
