Swan Hotel Review

A former coaching inn built in the 15th century, the Swan faces the cathedral. Guest rooms, furnished with antiques, are done in subtle, restful colors; some have four-poster beds, and some have to-die-for views (including No. 40, which overlooks the cathedral). An adjacent converted stable block holds 15 of the rooms. Check out the rooms first, as some are better than others. The award-winning restaurant, which is worth booking early, prepares traditional English roasts and fish dishes.
