Bellevue Review

Since 1917, Bellevue has been serving dishes inspired by Russian and Finnish cuisine. Try the shashlik (cubed lamb kebab served with mushroom rice) or the ox fillet à la Novgorod. The plush interior of this elegant town house has many shining samovars, but only some of them are functional; each table has lighted candles.

    A true Russian experience

    The Bellevue is a beautiful old restaurant serving authentic Russian food. It is in a nice location in Helsinki, easy to get to, and true to its heritage in design and ambience. I had the pelmeinie and chicken kiev, both classic, traditional Russian dishes. The pelmenie were served in a rich, delicious mushroom sauce. They were filled with perfectly seasoned lamb. The chicken kiev was large, juicy, and just plain delicious. With Russian tea and cookies for dessert it was a perfect meal. Expensive, but perfect.
