La Thuilière Review
It's easy to feel as though industrial-age design, modern creature comforts, and a jazz soundtrack have always set the scene at La Thuilière, but this lovely castellated structure is mostly the result of a spectacular renovation wrought by a hip couple who have managed to underscore the mystère of the late 19th-century Tudor-style château with vintage designer lighting, sleek mod furniture, and an ultrapolished black, gray, and deep-brown color scheme. With only five suites, the intimacy of the place lets you enjoy the chateau's fabulous hall (picture a 24-foot-high fireplace and regal wood trim, carried over to a main staircase, replete with stained glass windows) as if it were your own. The restaurant's menu and wine list are exceptional and original.
