Les Chants d'Avril

Les Chants d'Avril Review

It may not be the fanciest restaurant in Nantes, but it's where the locals go for "bistronomic" food and good, well-priced wines. Cozy and welcoming, the murals, dark-wood paneling, and leather banquettes give the look and feel of a traditional bistrot, but the attention to market-driven ingredients and interesting wines puts it in league with the modern bistrôt à vins. Labels aside, dishes like the excellent homemade foie gras or boudin noir, baked Scottish salmon with black sesame and parsley root rémoulade, or crab gazpacho speak for themselves. The luscious caramel clafoutis for dessert is a must. Although dinner is served on Thursday and Friday, it's best for lunch, when the superb three-course menu (€22) is extremely good value.
