Hostellerie de Levernois Review

This idyllic Relais & Châteaux property—a gracious country manor, smartly run by Jean-Louis and Susanne Bottigliero—enchants on many levels, from its unique fleur-de-lys topiary to its superb restaurant to its wood-beam cathedral guest rooms. The lodgings in a modern annex overlooking the landscaped garden are the most up-to-date. Cuisine, under chef Philippe Augé, is of the highest standard and has earned the restaurant a Michelin star. Meals are occasions to be savored; prix-fixe menus may include scallops served with baby leeks and seaweed butter, or Challans duck with Jerusalem artichokes. A bistro offering more reasonably priced menus is open daily for lunch, and Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings for dinner.
