Behind an unassuming facade on a narrow street, this rambling hotel's nine historic buildings (including Gustave Eiffel's old workshop) surround a spacious sculpture-garden courtyard. Complete renovations have transformed this former budget residence hotel, introducing neutral linens and Art Deco furnishings (similar to those in the owner's other property, the Hilton Arc de Triomphe) while keeping some of the wet bars and tea/coffeemaking facilities. Every room overlooks the garden, where meals are served in summer. In cooler weather you can still enjoy garden views from the glass conservatory restaurant and bar.

Nice Hotel in a Nice Area
Posted by Brendan from Alexandria, VA, USA on 7/10/06
I stayed here July 4-8, 2006. Nice Hotel with minor upkeep issues. My bathroom lightswitch was hanging out out of the wall by its wires (through my entire visit) and the temp knob on my A/C unit was missing (not a problem since there was a heatwave in town). Neither of these issues were bothersome to me.
The room was a kitchenette (which was nice due to the very high prices @ restaurants) and was otherwise in good shape. There was also a very nice courtyard to hang out in.
The hotel is situated in a quaint part of town seemingly apart from more touristy areas. There was a convenience store (with cheap wine and water) less than a block away and a great little bakery also a block away.
If you decide to take mass transit from the airport (CDG) to the hotel, *beware* the hotel's directions from their website. They take you on an epic journey through 4 separate trains (RER B, RER D, and 2 Metro lines) with MANY, MANY non-escalator'ed staircases. It was a nightmare for my wife and I with our propensity to overpack (and, of course, the 85 degree temps and no A/C on the trains). We went chose a different way back by taking the St. Sebastain train to Republique, then transferred and went to Gare du Nord, and then picked up the RER B to CDG. This was MUCH easier and there were escalators!! (about 8 euros/person each way).
FYI, speaking of the Metro, the St. Sebastian Metro stop (less than a block away from the hotel) will be CLOSED for renovation from 7/25/06 through 10/3/06. There is another stop a couple more blocks away, but you should be aware of the issue.
I'd recommend this hotel and would definitely go back.
