Festival Lacoste

Festival Lacoste Review

Seven km (4 miles) east of Ménerbes is the eagle's-nest village of Lacoste, presided over by the once-magnificent Château de Sade, erstwhile retreat of the notorious Marquis de Sade (1740-1814). For some years, Paris couturier Pierre Cardin has been restoring the castle wall by wall, and under his generous patronage the Festival Lacoste takes place here throughout the months of July and August. A lyric, musical, and theatrical extravaganza, events (and their dates) change yearly, ranging from outdoor poetry recitals to ballet to colorful operettas.
