Can Rigall

At a Glance

    Pros

  • that view, worth the steep road and steep prices
  • locally sourced organic meals

    Cons

  • very remote, so a car is absolutely essential (along with nerves of steel to cross a very narrow bridge en route)

Can Rigall Review

Poised at the end of a long, winding drive, this restored farmstead turned elite eco-hotel draws nature lovers and hedonists alike with inspiring vistas and modern design infused with regional history. Purchased as a ruin by a Norwegian enthusiast of local lore, the stone walls were re-erected according to the farmstead's original layout. The cow's hovel is now a sleek and modern oak-floored suite with a private path to a swimming pool carved right out of the cliffside. The property`s natural assets—it sits on 350 acres of forested wilderness and provides panoramic views of Mt. Canigou—are equally impressive. Breakfast is included. Avoid the cramped Boulangerie Room, which is too close to the kitchen and main corridor
