Neue Nationalgalerie

Fodor's Review:

Bauhaus member Mies van der Rohe originally designed this glass-box structure for Bacardi Rum in Cuba, but Berlin became the site of its realization in 1968. The main exhibitions are below ground. Highlights of the 20th-century collection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings include works by Expressionists Otto Dix, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and Georg Grotz. Special exhibits often take precedence over the permanent collection however. In 2007 look for 19th-century French masters.
