Steigenberger Hotel Frankfurter Hof Review

The neo-Gothic Frankfurter Hof is the first lady of Frankfurt hotellerie, the choice of visiting heads of state and business moguls. It fronts on a grand courtyard, and there's little that guests desire that isn't available: 24-hour room service; massive suites in dark woods and brass with air-conditioning (rare in Germany); marble baths with whirlpool tubs; slippers; mirrored walk-in closets. It's one of the city's oldest hotels, but its modern services earn it kudos.

    Clean but not cozy !

Very clean, the staff was great, but I would not stay here again. The shower was so small and the "rain-shower" made me feel like I was drowning in such a small enclosure. The food at the German restaurant that is separate from the hotel was very good - buffet style.

    Quality

My wife and i have stayed four times at the Steigenberger, most recently in Jan. Booked through AMEX platinum concierge, upgraded from a junior suite to one bedroom suite. The room was spotless, super comfy bed with duvets, flat screen tv's in both the living room and bedroom, AND the bathroom for watching in the tub, great shower also. The bar is comfortable despite it being a bit stuffy. We used the spa on our last visit, excellent steam and sauna, spotless. The Concierge is very helpful and has been on duty every visit since '01, very pleasant fellow. I find the value extremely high considering prices around Europe and for one reason or another we find it very easy to come back to, if only to stay one night at a time.
